Results Mapping needs a little silence…

I find that when I'm facilitating a Results Mapping session, which is very dialogue based, it can be good to keep this in mind: silence is good.

When there are lulls in the dialogue, no-one saying anything, don't feel the need to fill the gap. The silence is great for people to reflect and not feel rushed to fill up the results bubbles with babble.

Sure you want to move quickly and not let the conversation drag on without putting anything in a results bubble. But just remember that moments of silence can be very useful.

I agree! I have a tendency to talk more than I should so this is a great reminder that people need time to think, especially about results which are just so hard sometimes to “deweasel” – we need to keep practicing this.
